1st Source Donates $7,250 to Portage High School MCJROTC

Portage, IN – 1st Source Bank has donated $7,250 to Portage High School for its Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) program. The funds were used to cover the full cost of Cadet Leadership Camp for 32 cadets and two instructors.
Bob Ax, 1st Source Regional President, and Jesús Cervera, 1st Source Portage Central Banking Center Manager and former Marine, presented the donation to Portage Township Schools Superintendent Ric Frataccia, Portage High School Principal Jenny Sass, Sgt. William Fullerton and Cadets Jordan McDaniel, Mikaela Gill, Kyle Vanderlugt, Brittany Damron, Jodi Bunjan and Nicole Schweihs.
“1st Source likes to support organizations that make our community stronger and wiser,” said Ax. “With Portage Township Schools and the JROTC you get two for one.”
The funds were used to cover the cost of Cadet Leadership Camp in Bloomington, Indiana. In all, thirty-two cadets and two instructors spent a week learning JROTC training and maneuvers, team building activities and working on developing leadership traits with cadets.
