1st Source Donates $15,000 to United Way of LaPorte County
Michigan City, IN – 1st Source Bank has donated $15,000 to the United Way of LaPorte County. The funds will be directed toward the United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which helps prepare and file income taxes for qualified individuals.
Bob Ax, 1st Source Regional President, and Mike Arnett, 1st Source Business Banker, presented the donation to Kris Pate, Executive Director of the United Way of LaPorte County.
“1st Source is a strong supporter of the United Way and we’re pleased to make this donation for the VITA program,” said Ax. “Thanks to these funds, many in LaPorte County will get their taxes prepared for free, keeping more money in their pockets to help with necessary expenses.”
Free VITA tax preparation is available to LaPorte County residents who have a household income below $51,000 and file a return without rental income, farm income or adoption credits. Free tax preparation services will be available January 23 through April 15 by calling 211 to schedule an appointment.
