South Bend, IN – 1st Source Bank has announced the winners of the fifteenth annual Ernestine M. Raclin Community Leadership Award. Five employees and five community volunteers who embody the spirit, values, energy and leadership of Ernestine M. Raclin, past Chairman of 1st Source Bank and 1st Source Corporation, were selected as 2013 winners of the award.
South Bend area winners include Greg Crawford, Dean of the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame, Mindie Colanese, Banking Center Manager at 1st Source Bank in New Carlisle, Ryan Fenstermaker, Business Relationship Manager at 1st Source Bank in South Bend, Kurt Janowsky, co-owner of Crystal Ballroom Catering in Elkhart and Café Navarre in South Bend, and Tom Majerek, President of MDS Priority Delivery Service in Niles.
Greg Crawford was recognized for founding the Road to Discovery Initiative in which he bikes across the country to raise funds and awareness for Niemann-Pick Type C disease. He also raises funds locally for breast cancer awareness and research.
Mindie Colanese has volunteered with the Teen Court in LaPorte County for more than 13 years. She is also active in New Carlisle as the Treasurer of the New Carlisle Business and Community Association.
Ryan Fenstermaker is President of the Young Professionals Network and has been active with the St. Joseph County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way. He also co-founded the Michiana Runners Association to unite the local running community.
Kurt Janowsky is an active leader in Elkhart, volunteering with the Salvation Army, Wellfield Botanical Gardens, Child Abuse and Parent Services, the Rotary Club of Elkhart and several other local organizations.
Tom Majerek has volunteered thousands of hours to ensure the continued success of events in Niles, including Niles Riverfest, the Niles Bluegrass Festival and the Niles Summer Concert Series.
Other award winners include Marcia Hayes, Commercial Lines Agent at 1st Source Insurance in Knox, Carol Lyn Jansen, Office Manager at Jansen Orthopaedic Clinic in Warsaw, Donna Duttlinger, Client Services Representative at 1st Source Bank in Kouts and Jon Hicks, President of In Good Company in Merrillville.
Each winner received a $1,000 award, a $1,000 donation to the charity of their choice, and a Globe of Leadership.
