South Bend, IN – 1st Source Bank announces a ribbon cutting to celebrate new energy efficient exterior lighting at its Plaza Banking Center. The ribbon cutting will be held July 19 at 2 p.m. at the Plaza Banking Center at 225 N. Main Street (corner of Main and LaSalle) in downtown South Bend. 1st Source will be joined by project partners Indiana-Michigan Power, Acuity Brands, The Dave Baker Agency and All-Phase Electric.
1st Source replaced 20 exterior lights at the banking center with new energy efficient LED lights to provide a 62% reduction in energy usage. Additionally, the new lighting will provide a reduction in the amount of greenhouse gas emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, sulfur dioxide and mercury. Additional benefits include a reduction in maintenance and re-lamping costs and the elimination of “leakage” of light onto neighboring properties.
“Taking steps to reduce our impact on the environment isn’t new to 1st Source” said Mary Chmiel, 1st Source Senior Vice President and Supervisor of Branches. “We were one of the first area companies to set up paper recycling in the early 90’s and we’re one of the first to make a large-scale upgrade to energy efficient lighting. We have a number of projects in the works and I look forward to this being the first of several exciting announcements about 1st Source’s commitment to the environment and the communities we serve.”
