1st Source Bank Breaks Ground in Portage

Portage, MI – 1st Source Bank will start construction soon on a new banking center at 2381 W. Centre Avenue in Portage.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held March 23 to celebrate the bank’s expansion. The ceremony was attended by Tim Terrentine, Executive Vice President of Southwest Michigan First and President of the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce; Petey Stephanak, Vice President of Southwest Michigan First; Larry Shaffer, Portage City Manager; and officials from 1st Source, including Jim Seitz, President; Lanny Scoby, Kalamazoo City President; and Eric Drogosch, who will manage the new banking center.
“We’re excited to strengthen 1st Source’s presence in Kalamazoo County,” said Scoby. “This new location promises greater convenience to our clients in the area and an opportunity for the community of Portage to experience the excellent level of service that is the hallmark of 1st Source.”
The new banking center will feature side-by-side banking, in which the traditional teller walls are removed to allow clients to see exactly what the teller sees during their transaction. The banking center will also feature a coffee station, customer service center with a fax machine, shredder, internet-connected computer, a children’s play area and a drive-thru.
The 1st Source Centre Avenue Banking Center will be the bank’s second local office, and is expected to open by late July.
