1st Source Bank Announces Recipients of the 2016 Ernestine M. Raclin Community Leadership Award
South Bend, IN – 1st Source Bank announces the recipients of the 18th annual Ernestine M. Raclin Community Leadership Award. Ten community volunteers who are employees of 1st Source business clients were selected for embodying the spirit, values, energy and leadership of Ernestine M. Raclin, past Chairman of 1st Source Bank and 1st Source Corporation.
1st Source Bank honors this year’s award recipients for their outstanding leadership in the community. Recipients include:
Debby Beckman, President/CEO of YWCA Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne, is recognized for her leadership role with several organizations, including the Positive Resource Connection, United Way of Allen County and the Fort Wayne Urban League. She has also been active in the community with the Downtown Fort Wayne Rotary Club.
James “Sam” Erwin, owner of Superb Horticulture and the Pickin’ Patch in Plymouth, is a champion for young people in the community through his volunteer service with CASA of Marshall County. He has also been an active volunteer and leader with other organizations, including the Marshall County Community Foundation, Encore Performing Arts and the Marshall County Historical Society.
Emilie Henry, Media Manager for Patterson Riegel Advertising in Fort Wayne, has used her creativity to benefit the fundraising efforts of multiple community organizations, including the Three Rivers Music Theatre, Fort Wayne Literacy Alliance, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and FAME. She also serves on the board of the History Center.
Bob Jacobs, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Indiana Beverage in Valparaiso, is an active volunteer with Porter Starke Services. He established successful fundraising and awareness campaigns that have impacted many people suffering with mental health and substance abuse issues. He also founded the Northwest Indiana Junior Golf Association to expose more young people to the game of golf and the lessons it teaches.
Mike Kelly, President/CEO of Caliente, LLC in Fort Wayne, served as Board Chair of Redeemer Radio and led the station through its transition to a 24/7 radio station with broadcasts across northern Indiana. He is also active with Ivy Tech’s Pre-Engineering Program and the University of Saint Francis’ School of Entrepreneurship.
Bob Kindmark, Educational Consultant with Kindmark & Associates in Chesterton, has provided guidance and leadership to many young boys as a Boy Scout volunteer for the past 25 years. Bob has also managed Camp Topenebee and has overseen numerous building and renovation projects to ensure the camp’s future success.
Brad Koeppen, an Attorney with Douglas, Koeppen, & Hurley in Valparaiso, has been active in the community with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County, the Valparaiso Popcorn Festival, Valparaiso Family YMCA and Memorial Opera House Foundation. Bob has made a positive impact on the community that will be realized for many years to come.
Jason Lippert, CEO of Lippert Components in Elkhart, is recognized for being a devoted advocate for local youth. As a board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County, and the chair of their annual “Bids for Kids” fundraiser, Jason has helped raise millions of dollars for the Club, which is now considered one of the best in the Midwest.
Ryan Miller, Vice President of D&M Excavating, Inc. in Michigan City, is recognized for his service to the Coolspring Township Volunteer Fire Department. As assistant chief, captain and president, Ryan has provided leadership to the department, raised money for new fire equipment and has saved many lives over the past 13 years.
Ed Souers, CPA and Former Managing Partner of Christen Souers, LLC in Fort Wayne, has worked tirelessly to provide cancer patients more resources and a better quality of life as board chair of Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. Ed also serves on the board of Huntington University and is a 35-year member of the Lions Club.
Winners received a personal cash award, a donation to the charity of their choice, and a Globe of Leadership.
