1st Source Bank will kick off tax season January 31 with the annual 1st Source Super Saturday, where the bank’s IRS-certified volunteers will prepare and e-file income taxes free of charge for individuals with low to moderate incomes. The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, January 31 in Wiekamp Hall at 1800 W. Mishawaka Avenue on the Indiana University South Bend campus.
The free service is available to individuals whose adjusted gross income in 2014 was $60,000 or less and did not include rental or farm income, adoption credits or income from other states.
“Super Saturday is a great opportunity for people with low to moderate incomes to receive help with their tax returns,” said Jim Seitz, President of 1st Source Bank. “1st Source volunteers are glad to use their expertise to provide this much needed service.”
Super Saturday is part of 1st Source’s commitment to the United Way of St. Joseph County’s Pro$perity Building Campaign, an effort to help financially empower low-to moderate-income families in our community. In addition to Super Saturday, the campaign’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free tax preparation throughout tax season at sites in Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, LaPorte and St. Joseph counties.
