1st Source Donates to Dunes Learning Center
VALPARAISO, Ind. (December 7, 2017)—1st Source Bank donated $8,181 to support the purchase of five desktop computers for the Dunes Learning Center and the children they serve. This investment will significantly improve productivity, enhancing the positive impact of their hands-on outdoor education program that inspires curiosity, scientific literacy, environmental stewardship and civic engagement for children.
For many students, Dunes Learning Center programs are their first exposure to the world of ecology and conservation. They leave with new tools, enthusiasm and a sense of empowerment to make a difference in their environment. “Funding for this major technology upgrade will have a lasting, positive impact on the delivery of environmental education programs at Dunes Learning Center,” Executive Director, Geoff Benson says. “As an independent nonprofit organization we are always looking for new ways to operate more efficiently. Thanks to 1st Source Foundation we were able to upgrade some very old computer workstations and see the benefits of state of the art technology immediately in all areas.”
Regional President, Matt Vessely commented, “1st Source Bank recognizes the positive impact that the Dunes Learning Center has on the lives of children in the community. We are pleased to be able to provide resources to purchase the computers and improve learning.”
