1st Source Bank has donated $56,550 to Five Star Life, a not-for-profit youth character and leadership development organization that reaches and inspires more than 1,800 area middle school students per year. Through the donation, area students will receive hands-on weekly coaching and learning opportunities with the goal of improving their grades in school.
Bill Burton, 1st Source Regional President and Scott Shelly, 1st Source Business Banker, presented the donation to Seth Maust, Five Star Executive Director, and several members of the Five Star team.
“1st Source is a supporter of Five Star Life because of the positive impact it has on students in our community,” said Bill Burton, 1st Source Regional President. “Programs like Five Star are important because they provide the extra support and guidance that students need.”
According to Maust, “Five Star Life isn't just changing students' attitudes, behavior and outlook on life. Over the past year we've seen between 60-80% of our students raise their grades. The incredible generosity of 1st Source Bank will allow us to increase our impact!"
Five Star Life is active in several middle schools in the area including Penn Harris Madison School Corporation, School City of Mishawaka, South Bend Community Schools, Elkhart Community Schools and the Plymouth Community School Corporation.
