1st Source Bank awards $10,000 grant for Huntington County Community Learning Center

1st Source Bank has awarded a $10,000 grant for the Huntington County Community Learning Center, an expansion of Huntington County Community Schools’ Vocational Technical Center. Lyle Juillerat, 1st Source Banking Center Manager, recently presented the contribution to Jenna Strick, Director of the United Way of Huntington County, and was joined by Tiffanney Drummond, Director of Career & Technical Education with Huntington County Community Schools.

“At 1st Source Bank, we recognize the positive impact that the new Community Learning Center will have in Huntington County,” said Juillerat. “Not only will people have the opportunity to get the education and training they need to succeed but employers will be able to find well-trained workers right here in our community.”

1st Source’s contribution will go toward the construction of the Center, which includes remodeling and expanding the current Vocational Technical Center. Once completed this summer, the center will provide high school students and adults the skills training and education they need for a number of in-demand occupations, including precision machining, certified welding, industrial maintenance, certified nursing assistants, EMT, and information technology. College-level coursework will also be provided. Additionally, the center will be the home of the Huntington County Robotics Team.

“The Learning Center would not be possible if we did not have such wonderful support from our community including businesses like 1st Source Bank,” Drummond said.  “The vision of the Learning Center is that our entire community, from high school students to adults, has local access to learning opportunities that meet their needs.”
