1st Source Bank today announced two $15,000 not-for-profit winners selected in the Bank’s ‘150 Years, $150,000 Cheers’ promotion. The other $15,000 winner was Porter County Career and Tech Center, Automotive Classes, in Valparaiso, offering high school technical training.
To honor its 150th anniversary, 1st Source Bank invited the regional community for its help in giving away money to charitable organizations. 150 $1,000 donations were awarded in celebration of its 150 years of service to Indiana and Michigan individuals and businesses. Over a six week period, 1st Source received over 13,500 nominations for over 1,500 charitable organizations from individuals in the community. $1,000 winners were announced weekly and ranged from volunteer fire departments and libraries to food pantries, veterans' associations, parks and social service organizations.
“We’re honored with the engagement individuals in our communities had with 1st Source," said Christopher J. Murphy III, 1st Source Chairman and CEO. "We believe in being of service to others, and from the passionate responses for charities we received, so do many, many others across the region. We received over 13,500 nominations for 1,500 not-for-profits – just think how important each of them is to the fabric of our lives. We’re so proud to be able to touch these organizations across Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan and we couldn’t be more thankful that people responded to our call for nominations.”
Mr. Murphy continued, “The Blue Ribbon panel of community leaders had a difficult time selecting the final $15,000 winners. The quality, quantity and impact on the communities from the charities were awe inspiring. We’re happy the two $15,000 winners, Five Star Life and the Porter Country Career and Tech Center, focus on youth and education, and are working to ensure that the young in our community develop skills that assure them of becoming contributors to our society. In celebrating our 150 year anniversary, we are looking forward to and are excited about what well educated young people can do to build a great next 150 years."
‘150 Years and 150,000 Cheers’ gave individuals the opportunity to nominate their favorite charity to receive a donation. Individuals could enter at any 1st Source location by filling out a nomination form asking why the charity deserved the donation. Awards were based on the quality and quantity of nominations received, as well as the charity’s impact on the community. Please visit 1stsource.com/150 for a complete list of winners.
