Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy

The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy was formed to help family farmers by proposing policies to benefit the farmers, consumers, rural communities, and the environment. The Institute works with organizations around the world in advocating fair trade policies, developing alternative economic models that use clean energy sources, and promulgating safe food and healthy ecosystems. Resources are organized by topic, such as trade, agriculture, health, climate, and community forestry, and include online libraries, daily headlines, blogs, newsletters, journal abstracts and more.

This online newsletter has news and information about everything to do with agriculture, including markets, machinery, and management. In addition to news feeds and discussion forums, the site has a classified section, a business directory listing, and articles from Successful Farming magazine on such topics as farm policy, management, accounting and taxes.


American Farmland Trust

American Farmland Trust works with federal, state and local leaders and communities to protect the nation’s farm and ranch land, keeping it healthy and improving the economic viability of agriculture. The mission is to develop legislation, implement policies and execute programs that keep farmers on their land and protect our environment.

National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA)

NIAA’s purpose is to provide a source for individuals, organizations, and the entire animal agriculture industry to obtain information, education and solutions for challenges facing animal agriculture. NIAA carries a strong legacy of providing the U.S. livestock industry with a forum to collectively address issues of common interest.

Rural Advancement Foundation International – USA

RAFI cultivates markets, policies and communities that support thriving, socially just and environmentally sound family farms. The group works nationally and internationally to assure family farmers have the power to earn a fair and dependable income while providing stewardship of land and resources.

This online community features chat, discussion groups, classifieds, news and farm management tips for a range of specialties. is an online community comprising of buyers, sellers and technical experts in agriculture. Joining the free community allows members to post topics, communicate privately with other members, respond to polls, upload to the gallery and add links to the directory.


One of the most respected professional networking groups, LinkedIn, allows members to share insights, knowledge and job information in more than one million LinkedIn Groups across hundreds of professional disciplines. The agriculture category has more than 1,200 groups.

PTD is an online social network for dairymen and women sharing and exemplifying values of hard work, persistence, ingenuity, honesty and homegrown success. The site features discussion groups, photo and video boards and an event calendar.


Dairy Farmers Buying Group

The Dairy Farmers Buying Group is a fee-based buying program established to assist members of Dairy Farmers of America (outside the northeast) in purchasing selected inputs and services cooperatively. The Dairy Farmers Buying Group offers a full line of products needed on today’s dairy farms; animal health products, milking supplies, barn equipment and feed ingredients.

Farm and Home Supply

Farm and Home Supply, which has been operating more than 50 years, offers a full range of agriculture and livestock supplies. With more than 600 farm stores nationwide affiliated with Farm & Home in a buying group, the organization is able to offer products at highly competitive pricing.

Farmers Hotline

Buyers actively looking for equipment submit item details to Hotline staffers, who format the request and forward it to member sellers. Qualified sellers then search their inventories and come back with offers. The site also includes Blue Book and auction pricing.
