Introduction

As your financial partner, we are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality service and the flexible products you need to help you make the most of your money. At the very core of our relationship with you is a pledge of trust – the trust you place in us and the pledge we make to you to:

  • work hard on your behalf
    • to offer you the financial tools to grow your wealth
    • to keep you informed of new opportunities
    • to ensure that we exceed your expectations
  • give you straight talk and sound advice
  • protect the confidentiality of your relationship with us

Working hard on your behalf means that we must sometimes share information about you both within the 1st Source family of affiliates and with companies outside that family. Such sharing is carefully limited and is only permitted when it is of benefit to you. Because we have pledged to always give you straight talk and sound advice, we want to explain how the collecting and sharing of your financial information in our normal course of business benefits you. Because we are constantly concerned about protecting the confidentiality of your relationship with us, we want to inform you about the measures we have adopted for your security. Because we value the trust you have placed in us, we present here, in this disclosure, your rights, your choices, and things you can do to safeguard your privacy and personal financial information.

Getting to Know You
We’re committed to providing our customers with highly personal service, so we like to know as much as we can about your past experiences, your present needs and your future plans. The information we gather:

  • protects you - allowing us to confirm your identity and helping us to prevent unauthorized access to your account(s)
  • ensures that you get the checking account, the mortgage, the investment strategy and the insurance coverage that’s just right for you
  • assists us in creating new products or enhancing existing ones to better suit your needs
  • makes your future transactions with us faster and easier for you

This information comes from a variety of sources, such as checking, loan and other types of applications you complete; your transactions with us over time; reports from credit bureaus and other consumer reporting agencies; and real estate records.

This information may consist of your name, address and Social Security number; your income and other assets; your account number(s) and balance(s); your loan or mortgage payment history; and your credit history and credit rating.

Serving You Better
To serve you well, to service your accounts and to provide you with superior products, we may share information about you:

  • within the 1st Source family of affiliates (1st Source Bank, 1st Source Insurance, 1st Source Corporation Investment Advisors, Inc., Trustcorp Mortgage) in order to serve all your financial needs:
  • with outside (nonaffiliated) companies which perform services for us, such as mailing houses (ex: to communicate special offers to you); research and demographic companies (ex: to determine where best to locate our banking centers); check printers and data processing companies; and credit bureaus /consumer reporting agencies.
  • with outside (nonaffiliated) companies in order to provide you with valuable and affordable products and services:
    • outside companies with which we jointly market such products
    • outside companies authorized to market such products to you directly
  • with government agencies, as required by law

Protecting Your Interests
We prize the trust you have placed in us and are constantly working to ensure the security of your financial information. We do this by:

  • limiting access to your personal financial information
  • insisting on legally-binding confidentiality agreements with service providers and outside companies
  • implementing security measures to protect your information from theft or misappropriation

Limited Access to Your Personal Financial Information
Access to your personal financial information by anyone in the 1st Source family of affiliates is carefully restricted. Only those who must view or use the information to perform their jobs are allowed to do so. Any violation of these access restrictions or any misuse of customer information is taken very seriously. We monitor and audit our entire operation regularly to ensure compliance with current policies and to more precisely regulate access to information. 1st Source Bank’s Personal Asset Management Division, which manages trust and brokerage accounts, maintains similar rigid controls to protect its customers’ confidentiality. 1st Source Insurance, which may collect additional nonfinancial information about its customers, only shares such information with other 1st Source affiliates or with outside companies in order to process transactions or at your request.

Legally-binding Confidentiality Agreements
Outside companies providing services on our behalf, such as mail vendors, check printers or data processing companies are all required to sign confidentiality agreements. By law, they can only use the information we provide them to perform the job for which they have been contracted. Similarly, if we work with an outside (nonaffiliated) company to jointly market a product to our customers, confidentiality agreements would again forbid them from using your personal financial information for any other purposes than that stated in our contract with them. The same restrictions would apply to any company we might authorize to market a product directly to you. Violations of confidentiality agreements can be prosecuted under the law.

Extensive Security Measures
In these days of computer and identity theft, we have taken every precaution to protect your information and your accounts. Our computer systems and our online banking site are secured by firewalls, passwords and encryptions. We do not use cookies on our website to store personal financial information about you. To help prevent check fraud, our banking centers and operational facilities have set up a variety of safeguards, electronic and otherwise. Keep in mind, however, that no system is foolproof. Review your statements and let us know immediately if there is a discrepancy.

Making Choices
We work hard to protect your personal financial information and are careful to only use it in ways that benefit you. Because we value the trust you have placed in us, we want to be sure that you understand our policies and your rights. By law, you may control how your personal information is shared:

  • between 1st Source affiliates
  • between 1st Source and outside (nonaffiliated) companies
  • between credit bureaus and direct marketing companies

Between 1st Source Affiliates and Between 1st Source and Outside Companies
You may limit our affiliates from marketing their products or services to you based on information that we share with them, such as your income, your account history with us, and your credit score. For example, if you authorize 1st Source Bank to collect credit information about you to determine your eligibility for a loan or a mortgage, the Bank could not then share that information with 1st Source Insurance for marketing purposes without your express permission. However, we may continue to share information about our experiences with you within our family of affiliates. Such information may include your name, payment history, account balance, etc. We must also continue to share information about you within our family of affiliates in other circumstances, such as to service your accounts or to prevent fraud, consistent with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other applicable laws.

You may direct us not to share any personal financial information of any kind about you with outside (nonaffiliated) companies. Keep in mind, however, that by restricting such sharing, you may be denying yourself the opportunity of learning about valuable products or special services. We may still share information about you with outside companies which provide services on our behalf (mail houses, check printers, etc.) and with outside companies with which we have joint marketing agreements.

Your decision to restrict or "Opt Out" of these types of information sharing is made by completing the Opt-Out form on this website. Your name and a valid Social Security number are required to process your decision. Your Opt Out will apply to all your accounts with 1st Source and its affiliates, and will apply to both types of sharing discussed above. Your Opt Out is binding even if you cease to be a customer of the 1st Source family of affiliates. Other account holders in your household may also use the Opt-Out form on this website to notify us of a decision to Opt-Out of information sharing. You may also Opt Out by mail. To obtain a paper form, stop by any 1st Source location, or write to 1st Source Bank, Attn: Marketing Department, PO Box 1602, South Bend, IN 46634. Please allow 90 days for your Opt Out to be processed.

IMPORTANT: If you have already Opted Out, you need not do so again. We have recorded your decision and are honoring it.

Between Credit Bureaus and Direct Marketing Companies
Consumer credit reporting agencies, which collect information about you to assist lenders in determining your credit eligibility, may sell some of that information to direct marketers. To prohibit such reporting agencies from sharing your information in this way, please call 888 567-8688. Unfortunately, we cannot make this request on your behalf.

To remove your name from existing direct mail and telemarketing lists, please write to the following addresses:

www.dmaconsumers.org

Telephone Preference Service Association

P.O. Box 1559
Carmel, NY 10512-1559
www.dmaconsumers.org

Again, we cannot make this request on your behalf; you must do so personally.

Additionally, many states maintain "no call" lists, and there is now a national no-call service severely restricting the types of solicitations which can be made by telemarketers. Visit your state government’s website to find out how you can register for these services.
